ADHD Evaluation

What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects focus, impulse control, and activity levels. It is often diagnosed in childhood but can persist into adulthood.

The primary symptoms include inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Individuals may struggle to concentrate, stay organized, or complete tasks. Hyperactivity can manifest as constant fidgeting or an inability to sit still, while impulsivity often leads to interruptions or hasty decisions.

ADHD is categorized into three types: Inattentive, where focus issues dominate; Hyperactive-Impulsive, marked by excessive movement and impulsivity; and Combined, featuring a mix of both.

Its causes are linked to genetics, brain differences, and environmental factors such as premature birth or exposure to toxins.

Treatment typically involves behavioral therapy to build coping skills, medications like stimulants or non-stimulants to manage symptoms, and lifestyle changes such as structured routines and physical activity.

ADHD impacts individuals differently, requiring tailored strategies for effective management.
